MTV has canceled its romantic dramedy series "I Just Want My Pants Back" after one season.

"We're proud to have aired 'I Just Want My Pants Back,' with its impressive creative pedigree and talented group of actors," MTV said in a statement. "Many factors go in to determining renewals, however, and ultimately, we decided not to move forward with an additional season of 'Pants.'"

One likely reason for the cancelation: MTV's cup overfloweth with upcoming series, including "Inbetweeners," Craig Wright's "Underemployed" and "Gonna be Famous" with Zach Stone and Bo Burnham, plus sophomore seasons of "Awkward" and "Teen Wolf" in June.

The ratings for "Pants" started off strong, but dwindled throughout its debut season.

The show, which revolved around a group of twentysomething hipsters in Brooklyn, was produced by Liman and Dave Bartis' Hypnotic production company and Universal Cable Productions.

The Glee graduation, and season three finale “Goodbye,” is fast approaching–and there have been plenty of questions surrounding who’s leaving Glee and who will return next season.

Fresh off their Nationals win, Glee‘s New Directions senior members are preparing for graduation in what is sure to be a tear jerker of a season finale.

Glee cast members have been stirring up plenty of rumors about who will stick around on the series for season four, and while there’s been buzz that Dianna Agron and Amber Riley are leaving, that may not be exactly the case.

It’s the end of an era, no doubt, but Chris Colfer, Lea Michele and Cory Monteith are confirmed to return next season.

But it looks like the other grads will be popping up in Glee season four as well, as show creator Ryan Murphy spilled the beans to Vulture.com about who is staying on Glee.

Ryan explains, “We had a meeting, and you know we’ve become like a family, and I said to them, ‘Anybody who wants to stay on the show will stay on the show.’ They’re all coming back. Anyone who is a regular is coming back. Everyone said yes.”

Check out this emotional behind-the-scenes video from the graduation finale, where Dianna Agron says, “It’s been four years together. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I mean these are some of my best friends. We’ve gone through some of the most incredible things together. We’ve just been on this insane journey… I’ll remember this forever.”

Sniffle.

The season finales for NBC's "30 Rock" and CBS' "Rules of Engagement" took ratings hits Thursday night, while Fox took an overall win in the key demo with "American Idol," according to preliminary numbers.

Fox came in first in the advertiser-friendly 18-49 demographic with an average 3.0 rating/9 share and took a close second in total viewers with an average 11 million. "American Idol" at 8 saw a small increase in the demo from last week, taking a 4.2/14 — the night's best performance in the demo. It had 15.8 million total viewers, the highest viewership of the night. "Touch" the following hour was down slightly in the demo for a 1.8/5 and took 6.3 million total viewers.

ABC was second in the demo with an average 2.5/7 and third in total viewers with an average 8.4 million. Its season finales got a boost, starting with "Missing" at 8, which climbed 18 percent for a 1.3/4. It had 6.5 million total viewers. "Grey's Anatomy" the following hour jumped 11 percent to a 3.9/11 and attracted 11.2 million total viewers, while "Scandal" at 10 leaped 26 percent for a 2.4/7 and grabbed 7.5 million total viewers.

CBS took third place in ratings with an average 2.4/7 and first in total viewers with an average 11.4 million. Following a "Big Bang Theory" repeat, the season finale of "Rules of Engagement" at 8:30 dropped 22 percent to a three-year low of 2.1/7. It drew 7.3 million total viewers. The "Person of Interest" finale at 9 was on a par with last week for a 2.5/7 and 13.3 million total viewers, while "The Mentalist" the following hour was also essentially even with last week with a 2.5/7 and 13 million total viewers.

Univision came in fourth in ratings and total viewers with an average 1.5/4 in the demo and 3.7 million total viewers. "Una Familia Con Suerte" at 8 received a 1.4/5 in the demo and 3.4 million total viewers, while "Abismo de Pasion" the following hour took a 1.5/4 and 3.6 million total viewers. "La Que no Podia Amar" at 10 posted a 1.7/5 in the demo and 4.1 million total viewers.

NBC drew fifth in ratings and total viewers with an average 1.1/3 and 2.5 million. The three-part "Community" season finale at 8, 9 and 9:30 essentially tied in the ratings with a 1.3/5, 1.3/4 and 1.3/4, respectively, and took 3 million, 2.9 million and 2.5 million total viewers. Sandwiched between "Community" episodes at 8:30, the "30 Rock" season premiere was down 13 percent from last week with a 1.3/4 and drew 2.9 million total viewers. The cancelled "Awake" at 10 dropped 22 percent to match its season low of 0.7/2 and drew 2.1 million total viewers.

Philip Roth's Pulitzer Prize winning novel "American Pastoral" will be made into a movie from director Fisher Stevens.

The book is one of Roth's most critically heralded and offers a look at the social upheavals of the 1960s and 70s as seen through the eyes of a once legendary high school athlete, Seymour “Swede” Levov.

"American Pastoral" helped kick off a career renaissance for the author and is the first novel in Roth’s American postwar trilogy — a grouping that also includes "I Married a Communist" and "The Human Stain."

Film versions of Roth's novels have been hit and miss over the years. "Elegy" (2008), adapted from his "The Dying Animal," was acclaimed, and "Goodbye, Columbus" (1969) helped make Ali MacGraw a star.

However, "The Human Stain," (2003) with Anthony Hopkins improbably playing a man of mixed race, and "Portnoy's Complaint" (1972), which kept Roth's title but not his humor, are generally considered duds.

"American Pastoral" is being backed by Lakeshore Entertainment and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment (SKE). Stevens will direct a screenplay by John Romano ("The Lincoln Lawyer").

Stevens is currently directing "Stand Up Guys," starring Al Pacino, Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin for SKE and Lakeshore Entertainment. He won an Oscar for producing the 2010 dolphin hunting documentary, "The Cove."

Can you say awesome?!

The Wanted group member Tom Parker was in Los Angeles on Monday and decided to hit up Rock & Reilly’s Irish Pub, a place the group allegedly loves to chill at while in town.

Thankfully, a friend of ours was there too and snagged the footage below…

While at the pub and we’re sure after a few drinks too (hey, he’s old enough!), Tom decided to do his best at karaoke and serenaded the entire place with Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back In Anger.”

From the video taken, it looks like Tom is totally having a blast and had the whole pub singing along with him too!

Oh and excuse his potty mouth! Yikes!

So, how do you think Tom did?

Have you ever seen a celeb out and about?

What do you think of Tom’s karaoke job?

And now I'm sad.

Kim Kardashian is emblematic of the shallowness of American culture in the first two decades of the new millennium. While some cultural critics call her the prime avatar of the “famous for being famous” faux celebrity crowd, she along with Paris Hilton is a new breed of cat whose celebrity comes from the release of a sex tape and the canny exploitation of the resulting publicity. Like her good friend Miss Hilton (their relationship predates Kim's “celebrity”, Kardashian is possessed of photogenic good looks but is short of any other discernible talents outside of the bedroom. Both expanded their celebrity by becoming reality TV “stars”.

John C. Hopwood, who wrote the bio, then goes on to say:

Porn pioneer Harry Reems has commented how surprised he is at how porn stars like Jenna Jameson are accepted now in mainstream culture. His life was ruined by his participation in porn in its “Golden Years”. As for Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian, the release (accidental or not-so-accidental) of boudoir tapes didn't result in shame but celebration. America like ancient Rome seems to have shuffled off the moral coil of virtue of the Republic and is now enjoying its Imperial self in an orgy of ignominy. It's always more fun on the toboggan ride down the hill than it was schlepping up it in the first place.

Paul Schrader, writer of “Taxi Driver” and “Raging Bull,” has signed to write a drama about Mathilde Kschessinska, a famed Russian ballerina and mistress to the last Russian tsar, in a ground-breaking project backed by the Kremlin.

Producers David American producers David Weisman and Anatoly Davydov announced the project at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday.

The film will be financed by the V. Vinokur Fund for the Support of Russian Culture & Arts under the auspices of the Kremlin, and is an unusual collaboration between a renowned American screenwriter and a Russian-backed production.

The film will be shot in English with a mixed Russian and American cast.

Kschessinska played mistress to at least four aristocratic men who controlled the crumbling Romanov dynasty, including Russia’s last Tsar, Nicholas II. Rising from poverty, through her extraordinary gift for ballet, Kschessinska lived a life of luxury on the cusp of the Russian revolution.

“Kschessinska’s life is a powerful metaphor for Russian culture and evokes the best of Russian arts,” said Schrader.  “She was a first native prima ballerina in the country that saw the highest achievement in that art form. She was not only a witness to the critical period of Russian history, she was a player in that history, only to be thrown aside.”

Said Weisman: “Kschessinska was worshipped and reviled,” said Weisman. “Nicknames such as ‘Black-eyed She-Devil of the Imperial Ballet’ and ‘Mathilde the Magnificent’ echo the seething jealousy and boundless admiration Kschessinska provoked during her time.  Having narrowly escaped the Bolshevik bloodbath, for fifty years she taught ballet in Paris where she died only a few months before her hundredth birthday, in 1971.”

Schrader is the legendary writer of “Taxi Driver” and “Raging Bull.” His directing credits include “American Gigolo and “Mishima: A Life In Four Chapters.”

The film will be made in collaboration with Russian producer Vladimir Vinokur and his partner the Russian ballet impresario Vladislav Moskalev.

When "Battleship" docks in theaters Thursday evening, it does so with the endorsement and cooperation of the U.S. Navy.

The aliens in the Universal Pictures blockbuster may be CGI creations, but the massive battle cruisers that lend the film its name are the real McCoy.

Likewise, many of the sailors shown launching missiles and barking orders are enlisted servicemen, while destroyers like the John Paul Jones and the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan, both featured prominently in the film, get to strut their stuff for the cameras.

Producer Sarah Aubrey told TheWrap that the $209 million film version of the popular board game could not have been made without the participation of the Navy. Although much of the footage of the ship's bridge was done on a Louisiana soundstage, Aubrey estimates that roughly 50 percent of the shots in the film used real naval locations.

"If the Navy had not been partners in this film, there's no way we could have pulled this off," she said. "We made this movie because we wanted to showcase the modern Navy, which is a Navy that has not been seen in a film before. The real people on the ships, you can't take your eyes off of them, and these enormous ships just look so cinematic on the open ocean."

Also read: 'Battleship' Review: Sheer Adrenaline Keeps Dopey Action Epic Afloat

Getting the Navy's seal of approval took some doing. The armed forces branch receives about a half dozen requests for participation on Hollywood productions annually but only allows access to productions that it believes represent the Navy in a positive light.

In this case, a movie that showed naval officers heroically taking the battle to villainous extraterrestrials was just the ticket.

"The Navy is portrayed very well," Bob Anderson, Director of the Navy Office of Information West, told TheWrap. "Our sailors are shown, not knuckling under, but performing with great mental acuity to fight back against overwhelming odds and laying down their lives when necessary."

Also read: 'Prometheus' Secrets Revealed: 5 Things We Now Know

So happy is the Navy with its starring role in one of the summer's biggest action films that it has been touting "Battleship" in recruitment ads it runs in cinemas and featuring promotional content from the film on its YouTube channel and Facebook pages.

But an endorsement from the Navy might not have come if the film's villain hailed from the Middle East or another of the world's perpetual hotspots.

"By choosing to have the enemy be aliens, that way we didn't run into any political hurdles about having the U.S. Navy portrayed as fighting another modern navy," Aubrey said. "When we put ships in a fictionalized situation, we removed that potential problem."

To get approval, Aubrey says the filmmakers sought input from the Navy on the script, making changes where officers told them that the plot misrepresented procedures. One area of concern, Aubrey said, was that star Taylor Kitsch, who plays a senior weapons officer, not seem too youthful for his position.

"They were not shy about telling us that it was important that he be right age for the job that he held," Aubrey said.

Even the film's more fantastical elements had to have a veneer of realism to pass muster. When Navy ships encounter an identified object from space in the film, the film depicts the seamen following protocol – a warning horn is sounded, a vessel is sent out to investigate, all before any combat takes place.

Aubrey said that central to enlisting the Navy's trust was the relationship that director Peter Berg had developed with the armed forces from his work on the 2007 terrorist thriller "The Kingdom" and from research he had done on a proposed film version of "Lone Survivor," a  memoir by ambushed Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell.

It didn't hurt, Aubrey said, that Berg's father was an amateur naval historian.

"We were pre-vetted for them," she said. "We'd already met a large number of people, some of the admirals, and we really got to understand how the Navy works. We had established a comfort level with them."

Beyond ensuring accuracy and conveying the purity of their intentions, the filmmakers had to tailor their shooting schedule around the availability of the aircraft and ships. They were allowed, for instance, to film maritime exercises taking place at the Pacific Rim and take footage of carrier jets being launched, but only because those activities were already taking place.

If the filmmakers need something extra and unscheduled, Anderson said that the Navy charges a set rate for any equipment or staged naval activities. Likewise, the servicemen and women are paid for their work in the film, he adds, but they are only allowed to participate during leave or liberty time.

"Battleship" arrives after the Navy has been more or less on cinematic dry dock. Anderson said that even though the Navy has worked with television shows like "NCIS" and "Hawaii Five-O,"  requests for access from moviemakers have tapered off in recent years.

"With the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan most of the movies have been about ground wars," Anderson said.

That could change if "Battleship" is a hit, and it could even goose recruiting. Anderson said it was difficult to prove statistically if a prominent film role for the Navy encouraged more people to enlist, but did say that there had been a spike after "Top Gun" was released in 1986.

"We just hope that a lot of people see the movie and think that it's neat and that maybe that inspires them to check us out and see what we're all about," Anderson said.

John Travolta's second massage accuser has dropped his case– but the "Pulp Fiction" actor isn't out of the woods just yet.

The second masseur to accuse the "Pulp Fiction" star of inappropriate behavior during a massage session — identified as John Doe #2 in the complaint — moved to dismiss his complaint Wednesday, following on the heels of the first plaintiff, who moved to dismiss his complaint earlier this week.

However, like John Doe #1, the second accuser filed to dismiss his complaint without prejudice, meaning he can refile if he chooses. He's also followed in the first plaintiff's footsteps by retaining media-friendly lawyer Gloria Allred to represent him.

Allred said in a statement that John Doe #2's case may be re-filed in another legal venue.

"We are now representing John Doe #2," Allred said in a statement provided to TheWrap. "We believe that the lawsuit should be filed in another court and, therefore, the lawsuit was dismissed without prejudice. We will be conferring with our client regarding what will happen next in this case."

Allred told TheWrap on Wednesday that she is "in the process of conferring with" John Doe #1 "regarding the next steps, which he may wish to take."

The attorney who filed the original complaint, Okorie Okorocha, has not yet responded to TheWrap's request for comment.

John Doe #2 — who was added to the lawsuit with an amended complaint days after the complaint was originally filed — claimed that Travolta groped his buttocks and began masturbating during Jan. 28 massage session at an Atlanta resort.

The initial plaintiff made similar claims about an alleged Jan. 16 massage session at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Jan. 16, though photos and a restaurant receipt placed Travolta in New York City on that day. Reports soon surfaced that the plaintiff had gotten the date of the alleged encounter incorrect, and he parted ways with Okorocha soon after.

Travolta's attorney Martin Singer — who has venehmently denied both men's claims — has not yet responded to TheWrap's request for comment on the second plaintiff's dismissal.

If we like our stars to be conflicted, Donna Summer certainly fit the bill.

As her career crested in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, the singer, who died Thursday at the age of 63, was one of the most “out” born-again Christians in the music business, forever reconciling herself with the fact that her career had been founded on a 17-minute musical orgasm.

Also read: Donna Summer, Queen of Disco, Dead at 63

In the age of coke, mirror balls, a relentless 4/4 thump-thump and giving yourself over to absolute pleasure, Summer was a non-sensualist who just wanted to sing.

There were moments of tension with a fan base that wanted to preserve her as a disco icon — especially when she was accused (falsely, she said) of expressing her religious beliefs in a way that resulted in a rumor that one of the queens of gay music was a homophobe. But all was reconciled in the end.

Although the mass pop audience hadn’t given Summer a Top 10 pop hit since 1988, the club crowd continued to embrace her newer music, and she had four songs hit No. 1 on Billboard’s dance music chart in the last half-dozen years, the last chart-topper in 2010.

Perhaps more tellingly, she even started performing “Love to Love You Baby” in concert again around 2005 — minus the epic moans. Summer loved to love us loving the song that first brought her to the dance.

The preeminent diva of the disco era died Thursday in Florida, where she lived with husband Bruce Sudano after a stint as Nashville residents. Even some who worked with her weren’t aware of she had cancer, as she’d been making rounds in Los Angeles as recently as two months ago.

Summer first started recording in 1971, using her birth name, Gaines, for her earliest UK single in 1971. Her first album, three years later, wasn’t even released in the United States.

It wasn’t until “Love to Love You Baby” established her as an overt sex symbol that she broke through, much as she spent ensuing years trying to live down one of history’s most orgasmic songs (and the equally suggestive album cover art).

“If I’d known seven years ago that all I had to do was groan, I would have been groaning!” she joked to Rolling Stone.

As she recalled it in her autobiography, she tried to imagine herself as Marilyn Monroe during the recording, which took place in a candlelit studio with Summer prone on the floor (furthering the song’s legend, naturally). She had no idea all 17 minutes would come out as an LP-side-length track; she was just vamping to give the producers an extended idea of what they might do. Of course, innocent top 40 listeners didn’t necessarily know what all the hubbub was about, since the single version was shortened by 13 minutes and (about) 130 orgasms.

“I have so much more to offer,” she complained at the time – and indeed she did, as the woman who first made her name off the non-musical sounds she made on a record proved to be even better at singing than heavy breathing. And she did have breath control, mind you: “Dim All the Lights,” arguably the best song of her career, had her sustaining a note for 16 seconds, purportedly a record for a top 40 hit.

After 1975′s “Love to Love You,” it was another two years before Summer had another monster hit, in the form of “I Feel Love.” That might be the most influential of all her hits, though not so much because of anything she did as Giorgio Moroder’s electro textures.

“Last Dance,” the theme from 1978′s disco-sploitation picture "Thank God It’s Friday," had plenty of production and writing brilliance to spare, not least of all in the last-minute addition of a balladic opening that made the eventual transition to pure disco all the more exciting. But from here on out, it was Summer’s singing that made her smashes smashes.

The “Bad Girls” double-album in 1978, besides being her swan song for Casablanca Records, also marked the end of an era when it came to Summer being willing to position herself as a sex kitten.

Her duet with Barbra Streisand, “No More Tears (Enough is Enough),” established her as a Class Act once and for all. But there would be commercial limitations to coincide with de-tarting her act so severely. “No More Tears” was her last No. 1 on Billboard’s pop chart, though that may have had as much to do with the “disco sucks” side finally winning in the culture – temporarily, anyway – as Summer’s cleaned-up act.

Summer fell in with a fellow evangelical Christian, producer Michael Omartian, for a run of synthy, less bass-heavy hits like “She Works Hard for the Money,” the theme song of ‘80s Day-Glo pop feminism. Not incidentally, it was her first music-video hit, in the dawn of the MTV era. Minor hits followed, including an unlikely take on the Jon Anderson/Vangelis mood ballad “State of Independence.” But a mojo had been lost.

A Wall Street Journal review of a poorly attended 2008 amphitheater show in New Hampshire describes a scene in which Summer is peopling half her set with songs from her “Crayons” comeback, which probably only dozens of audience members had bothered to buy, while withstanding cries for “Hot Stuff” and other oldies she’d barely have time to squeeze into even an all-hits set. Clearly she wasn’t resigned to being strictly a nostalgia act, which might have accounted in part for her long time away.

But maybe we should feel most nostalgic, in an age of divas who’d do anything to get ahead, that Donna Summer never met a discotheque she couldn’t class up.

Comcast Corp. announced Thursday that it is lifting its cap on customers' monthly bandwidth use in favor of a model that will enable subscribers to buy as much bandwidth as they want.

In a conference call with reporters, Comcast Executive Vice President David Cohen said the new policy — which will increase bandwidth caps from 250 gigabytes a month to at least 300 gigabytes a month — should address a complaint raised by Netflix that Comcast discriminates against the rental and streaming giant. Netflix's concern partly stemmed from Comcast's exemption of its XfinityTV app on Xbox from the bandwidth caps.

“This really isn’t the call to debate the propriety or the impropriety of the way in which we’re treating the Xfinity app,” said Cohen, in response to a reporter’s question. “It is a real stretch to create a discrimination argument here,” said Cohen, contending that the company’s XfinityTV app is completely legal and appropriate.

Cohen noted that Netflix had acknowledged in a recent earnings call that the static 250 GB cap had not interfered with its service.

Cohen also said if the static 250 gigabyte cap didn’t get in the way of Netflix’s service, then a 20% increase to the 300 GB limit, along with the ability to purchase additional bandwidth, gives Comcast customers the ability to have “infinite use of their service, as long as they pay their fair share.”

Netflix spokesman Joris Evers responded in a statement: "Increasing the data cap is a small step in the right direction, but unfortunately Comcast continues to treat its own Internet delivered video different under the cap than other Internet delivered video. We continue to stand by the principle that ISPs should treat all providers of video services equally."

“It’s nice that they changed the cap,” Art Brodsky, a spokesman for the watchdog Public Knowledge, told TheWrap. “But we still don’t know the basis for the change or why a cap is necessary.”

Joel Kelsey, a policy adviser for the watchdog Free Press, said in a statement: "While the move to increase its caps are overdue, the notion that Comcast would charge an exorbitant rate for additional bandwidth — while continuing to exempt its own traffic under its Xbox deal — illustrates that Comcast is really trying to discourage subscribers from experimenting with online video alternatives. We call on Comcast to drop the caps and these exorbitant overage fees entirely."

Do you believe in haunted mirrors? Film District will try to make you.

The financing and distribution company has acquired Intrepid Pictures’ horror flick “Oculus,” which is based on Mike Flanagan’s short film of the same name.

Flanagan will direct from a script he co-wrote with Jeff Howard with production starting later this summer.

Trevor Macy and Marc D. Evans will both produce and finance the project. Focus Features International is shopping its international rights at Cannes.

"Mike's ability to tell atmospheric and truly frightening tales is evident in both his 'Oculus' short and especially his feature film 'Absentia,' which won numerous awards at horror film festivals," Macy said in a statement.  "We're excited to work with him to bring his storytelling to an even broader audience and believe that in the United States, FilmDistrict is just the right partner to do that."

The film portrays a brother and sister whose family was killed 10 years earlier. Though the brother was blamed for the incident, his sister is intent on proving that a haunted mirror was responsible.

"When we read the script for 'Oculus' and saw Mike's short, we were excited about his potential to create a film that would deliver real scares to horror fans," Peter Schlessel, CEO of FilmDistrict, said in a statement. "We look forward to working with Trevor and Marc and their team at Intrepid on the project."

FilmDistrict has a series of films opening later this year, including “Safety Not Guaranteed,” “Looper,” “Red Dawn” and “Playing the Field,” starring Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel and Dennis Quaid.

John Travolta isn't out of the woods yet when it comes to the masseur who accused him of inappropriate behavior during an alleged January massage session.

The accuser, whose lawsuit against Travolta was dismissed on Tuesday, is possibly preparing for a second legal round with the "Pulp Fiction" actor — and he's bringing media-friendly attorney Gloria Allred with him.

"I represent John Doe No. 1," Allred — known for such clients as alleged Tiger Woods mistress Rachel Uchitel, porn actress Ginger Lee, and Herman Cain accuser Sharon Bialek — said in a statement provided to TheWrap. "Mr. Doe's lawsuit was dismissed without prejudice, which means that he is still legally entitled to file a lawsuit against John Travolta if he chooses."

Allred added that she is currently "in the process of conferring with him regarding the next steps, which he may wish to take."

The anonymous accuser filed suit on May 4, claiming that Travolta groped his genitals and began masturbating during a Jan. 16 massage session at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

He parted ways with his attorney, Okorie Okorocha, shortly after reports surfaced that he had gotten the date of the alleged encounter wrong — and after photographs and a restaurant receipt that placed Travolta in New York on Jan. 16 — surfaced.

Before his suit was dismissed earlier this week, John Doe #1 had been seeking $2 million, claiming assault, sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Travolta still faces accusations from a second masseur, John Doe #2, who claims that Travolta behaved similarly during a Jan. 28 massage session at an Atlanta resort. That man, who is also represented by Okorocha, was added to the lawsuit with an amended complaint filed mere days after the initial complaint.

Travolta's attorney, Martin Singer — who has adamantly denied the claims of both men — has not yet returned TheWrap's request for comment on this latest development.

Eduardo Saverin, the billionaire Facebook co-founder portrayed by Andrew Garfield in The Social Network, is no longer an American citizen.

Saverin, 30, renounced the U.S. citizenship he gained as a teenager in advance of the company’s impending IPO, a move met with criticism.

He’s accused of trying to skip out on taxes with the move, though the Brazilian-born resident of Singapore has done nothing illegal at any point.

Saverin

Eduardo Saverin co-founded Facebook at age 21, was forced out two years later, sued CEO Mark Zuckerberg and ultimately settled out of court.

He was given a share of the company that left him phenomenally wealthy.

His stake, 4 percent of the company, will most likely be worth more than $3 billion when Facebook goes public Friday. Hence his exit now.

Saverin joins a growing number of people giving up U.S. citizenship, a move that can trim their tax liabilities when residing in lower-tax nations.

Said Tom Goodman, a spokesman for Saverin, in an e-mailed statement:

“Eduardo recently found it more practical to become a resident of Singapore since he plans to live there for an indefinite period of time.”

He professes ignorance about his taxes and refuses to discuss his finances.

“This had nothing to do with taxes,” he insisted. “I was born in Brazil, I was a U.S. citizen for about 10 years. I thought of myself as a global citizen.”

Saverin renounced U.S. citizenship “around September”, according to his spokesman.

Singapore doesn’t have a capital gains tax. It does tax income earned in that nation, as well as “certain foreign- sourced income,” according to reports.

Saverin won’t escape all U.S. taxes. Americans who give up their citizenship owe what is effectively an exit tax on the capital gains from stock holdings.

Renouncing your citizenship in advance of an IPO is “a very smart idea,” said one expert, “Once it’s public you can’t fool around with the value.”

Saverin’s decision to leave could have been a wager that the cost of an exit tax now – 15 percent of whatever valuation he could get the IRS to agree to – would be far less than the 35 percent or more in estate tax his heirs would face.
